Faculty for all LEC's courses are currently practicing IBCLC's who have been teaching on-site lactation education programs and/or workshops, conferences and seminars, since 1986. The combined talents of the three instructors bring a wealth of experience as lactation consultants in hospital, pediatric practice, private practice, WIC, and the corporate setting, as well as experience in all aspects of maternal-child health and pediatrics. All three have taught at the college level.

Jan Barger

Jan Barger, RN, MA, IBCLC, Wheaton IL

Jan has worked in maternal child health since 1972 and is an IBCLC in private practice and with Wheaton Pediatrics in the Chicago area. Jan has served on the IBLCE board and exam committee and was the 1990-92 International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA) President. She is the coauthor of Blueprints.

Linda Kutner

Linda Kutner, RN, BSN, IBCLC, Mooresville NC

Linda has worked in the pediatric and lactation field since 1967. She is currently a lactation consultant with a hospital near Charlotte, North Carolina. She had a thriving private practice for 17 years prior to joining the hospital staff. Linda served as the 1992-94 ILCA President and on the IBLCE board, and is the primary author of Blueprints.

Carole Peterson

Carole Peterson, MS, IBCLC, Fort Wayne IN

Carole was a lactation consultant for a WIC Clinic, and chairperson for the Indiana WIC Breastfeeding Committee for 17 years. She is now the Lactation Task Force Coordinator in Indiana. Carole is a trainer for the Indiana WIC Peer Counselor Program, and she is member of the NWA Breastfeeding Committee. She was an associate instructor in child development at Indiana-Purdue University at Fort Wayne, and she is a co-author of Blueprints for Public Health Professionals.

Linda currently serves as chair of ILCA's Professional Education Network. Jan is on the International Lactation Education Accreditation Council, and through 2006, served as ILCA’s liaison to the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations. Carole, Jan and Linda are all members of ILCA’s Professional Education Network.
