About Lactation Education Consultants

Lactation Education Consultants (LEC) was formed in 2000 in order to provide on-site programming through its Lactation Consultant Preparation Programs and Certification Cram/Review courses, specific programs developed for WIC, and many other workshops. Here is what we offer:

New Courses for 2008

Certified Lactation Specialist Course (CLSC)
Two Day Cram/Review Course

"Our mission is
to provide prospective lactation consutants and other health professionals with programs related to lactation and breastfeeding information that is practical, current, and evidence-based."

As of 2008, LEC is changing the name of the Lactation Consultant Preparation Program to the Certified Lactation Specialist Course. The course has the same content, but LEC has added an end-of-course certification exam. This is a stepping stone to becoming an IBCLC. Be aware that all references on this website to the LC Prep Program actually refer to the new Certified Lactation Specialist Course (CLSC).

The Certified Lactation Specialist Course (CLSC) has been accredited by the International Lactation Education Accreditation Council on behalf of ILCA.
